How can therapy help me?

Therapy can be transformative for a willing participant. Rarely is it 'just talking!' Therapists can offer and model support, problem-solving skills, and coping strategies for a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, and creative blocks. Many people also find that counselors can be a tremendous asset in managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, and the hassles of daily life.

Therapy can provide a fresh perspective on an ongoing problem or help you construct new solutions. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn. Some of the benefits available from therapy include:

- Gaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and values
- Developing skills for improving your relationships such as communication and boundary-setting
- Learning improved methods for coping with stress and anxiety
- Managing anger, grief, depression, and other emotional pressures
- Changing old behavior patterns and developing new ones
- Improving your self-esteem and boosting self-confidence
 at work school, home, etc.

- Executive functioning skills for teenagers and adults

- Education and information about diagnoses (ADHD, anxiety)

What are sessions like?

Sessions are 50-minutes long and can be in-office or virtual, depending on your preference or scheduling needs. I work hard to build a rapport with my clients so that they feel comfortable sharing. I always tell my clients that their time in therapy is whatever they need it to be- an opportunity to vent, to emote, feel supported, problem-solve, improve communication, learn new things about themselves or improved ways to cope. I will always confirm that we are on the right track. I *try* to use humor and will never make a client feel the burden of filling time.

Do you accept insurance?

I am considered an Out-of-Network provider. Payment is required at the time of therapy.

Most insurance companies will reimburse clients between 60-80% of their out-of-pocket costs.

To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, you should first call them- numbers are usually listed on the back of your card. Ask about your coverage using the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

  • What information will I need to submit after a therapy session to be reimbursed?

I can provide clients with a 'superbill' that has all necessary information for reimbursement.

If you receive Lyra mental benefits through your work's Employee Assistance Program, I am an in-network provider. Please log into the Lyra portal and complete a request to see if I would be a good fit.
